Notes from the Proposal Hearing
Notes for Proposal: QR Codes for Audio Support in Foreign Language Classrooms
K. Vigil
9-18-2015
Literature
in class vs. outside of class
podcasts, older technologies
what exists already....to base the questions on
Methodology
3rd question - develop this into a how
How can foreign language teachers use QR audio codes to support language learning?
2nd one related to QR
take out first question on survey
look from edtech perspective
structure intervention
whether it works from student learning
needs analysis from instructional design - change questions to take into account needs/context
get a baseline - make a follow-up plan for PD - advisor role to show where this might best work in the curriculum
another interview - student artifacts
day after use in the classoom
stick with one level - one language? Spanish middle school
do not need samples from all students -
focus group?
Chapter 4 - document the PD
based on the data from the surveys - needs analysis
additional componenent about how to do it in the currculcum
2-3 months...writing up results as go along, periodic feedback
30 people to give data - carefully selected 30 teachers, with some edtech, same language...coming from a refiined source for data
10 solid teachers - how did you get those 10 and how are you going to be careful that they stay
must be over a 2-3 month period
General Comments
make the argument for studying QR codes in the first place
larger eco-system of other technologies used in language learning
where does the learning take place
theory OK...larger picture
more on mobile devices
how do the tools influence teaching in and out of the classroom
try to get away from general reporting/gathering information - needs ot be more analytic
why do they teach it the way they do
