I am currently serving as Director of Graduate Education Programs at Marist College, overseeing the following programs:
5-year BS/MA in Childhood Education (1-6) & Students with Disabilities
Hybrid MA in Educational Psychology
Campus MA in Educational Psychology
5-Year BA/MAT in Adolescence Education (7-12) and Students with Disabilities
In addition to administering all aspects of these programs, I teach the graduate course EPSY 506: Content-Area Assessment and Portfolio Development in both campus and hybrid formats. I oversee the Capstone Portoflio process for all graduate students, in which all candidates build a reflective, standards-based portfolio over the course of the program and then present it to reviewers in the last semester.
In addition to this position, I teach undergraduate pre-service elementary and adolescent teaching candidates in the course EDUC 150: Learning Through Technology. The focus of this course is not proficiency in any specific technologies/tools, but that candidates will learn how to choose and use technologies to support effective teaching and learning. They will become instructional designers who create materials in accordance with learning theory, UDL, and Mayer's Mulitmedia Principles. Additionally, candidates learn about the importance of modeling and explicitly teaching students how to use technology in an ethical, legal, and safe way.
In the Fall 2017 semester I taught a First Year Seminar titled Cyberethics. As freshman strengthened their writing and presentation skills, they explored many issues related to the ethical use of technology in the online, medical, academic, and political realms.
Other duties at Marist include advising undergraduate and graduate students, 3 years of service on the Online and Distance Education Committee (2016-2018), acting as the faculty liaison for the Teachers of Tomorrow student group, serving on the Assessment Committee to help with AAQEP accreditation, participating in Academic Integrity hearings, and assisting with faculty search committees.
